Behind The Article

I joined Students for Science in 2025, and have had the privilege of teaching underprivileged children in Sham Shui Po ever since. During my time there, I created meaningful connections with the children, which led me to truly begin empathising with their circumstances. Although their learning environments were modest, they still held the same passion for learning compared to the ‘average’ student. This contrast between their potential and their environment led me to want to explore this issue deeply. Through this journalistic piece, I aim to raise awareness of the systemic barriers enforced by economic status, as well as the importance of organisations like Students for Science in tackling these inequalities. By doing so, I hope to raise awareness of educational inequality, inspiring others to reach out and make tangible differences in these children's lives.
